The Etna Tour is one of the most popular excursions, offering the easiest way to discover the wonders of Mount Etna. The tour includes a step-by-step itinerary with several stops to appreciate the natural beauty of Etna Park.
We’ll begin in the traditional Etna countryside at Montata Grande in the town of Trecastagni. Here, either for lunch or a few minutes before departure, you’ll have time to relax with a coffee, a glass of granita, or some local wine. The tour will then officially start in our vehicle, allowing us to explore a range of unique spots: ancient lava fields, volcanic cones, lush forests, and breathtaking landscapes.
One of the highlights will be a visit to the stunning Valle del Bove, where we’ll discuss the major eruption of the 20th century. You’ll also experience the thrill of descending into the heart of the volcano by exploring a lava tube (lava cave), equipped with a helmet and headlamp to understand the fascinating dynamics of lava flows. Our route includes a scenic walk around a lateral crater, reaching an altitude of 2,000 meters (6,000 feet) for an unforgettable view of the setting sun.
Throughout the journey, our nature guides will enrich the experience with clear and engaging explanations about the geological and volcanological features of Europe’s largest active volcano, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013.
If this is your first time on Etna, this tour offers the perfect introduction to the history and stories surrounding the highest active volcano in Europe.
